Kunjudo

In the history of Japanese incense making, Awaji Island holds an unshakably prestigious position. According to the Nihon Shoki, Awaji Island is considered the birthplace of Japanese incense, having accumulated centuries of expertise in materials and craftsmanship. On this fragrant land, "Kunjudo," founded in the Meiji period, has become the island’s foremost traditional incense maker, drawing upon a century of heritage.

Building on this legacy, Kunjudo continues to innovate. Last year, the brand launched a remarkable new product line—Washi Incense. More than just a fragrance product, each piece is a fusion of nature, poetry, and minimalist aesthetics.

To fulfill its commitment to coexisting with nature, Kunjudo uses certified eco-friendly coconut shell charcoal as a base for its incense. This significantly reduces smoke and dust during burning, lessening the environmental impact.

Going further, the brand has developed "Kunjudo incense" made from underutilized domestic Japanese wood. A portion of sales is donated to the "Setouchi Olive Fund," supporting ecological conservation efforts.

Stepping into the 21st century, Kunjudo honors its century-old craftsmanship while integrating contemporary thinking and aesthetic sensibilities. With the mission of creating "the incense of tomorrow," it aims to infuse modern life with tranquility, harmony, and happiness through every subtle note of fragrance.
