Some pieces do not dazzle at first glance; instead, they grow on you the more you look at them. This latest design by the artisan marks a departure from his usual style; inspired by mimosa flowers, he has—in a rare move—hand-painted a soothing color palette onto the vessels, stroke by stroke. While his work is typically monochromatic, a patterned design like this is a rare find. Artisan Kengo Wakabayashi drew inspiration from the mimosa, hand-painting soft yellows and gentle greens onto a warm, white glaze. With the mimosa symbolizing gratitude and thoughtfulness, that sentiment is quietly woven into every piece. Subtle variations in glaze density and the exposed clay edges give each item a unique character. Lightweight and delicate, they are effortless to use in daily life, adding a quiet sense of ritual to your dining table.
With a 220ml capacity, this cup holds the perfect amount for a morning coffee or an evening tea—a serving size that invites you to slow down and savor every sip. The versatile 16cm plate is ideal for everyday use, perfectly accommodating a slice of cake, a few pieces of fruit, or a slice of bread. The soft yellow-green glaze shifts beautifully with the light, looking stunning no matter how it is arranged.
Kengo Wakabayashi's works are elegant and harmonious, often created with soft lines or floral shapes. The shapes pursue a simple and elegant texture, and the glazes are also simple and unpretentious. From the design to the coloring, it exudes a pure atmosphere, that pure purity, which highlights the charming charm of the utensils. There are cute little flower patterns all around the cup.
