If some drippers are born with a distinct personality, the TSUBAME is perhaps the exact opposite—what it pursues is not standing out, but a balance that is just right.

GSP, based in Tsubame, Niigata, Japan, focuses on metal tableware. All of its metal products fall under the "TSUBAME Series," and the swallow icon on each piece is proof of its origin in Tsubame. The "TSUBAME" in this dripper's name refers precisely to this city renowned for its metalcraft.

Interestingly, it looks like ceramic but is not ceramic; it feels lightweight but is not pure metal. Its material is enamel. While most enamel uses cast iron as a base and requires an anti-rust coating, TSUBAME uses stainless steel as its base and applies the glaze directly—preserving the warm texture of enamel while achieving a lightweight form, with no need to worry about rust.

As for the dripper itself: the 2.0 version is designed for one to two servings. It features a classic cone shape, with ten long and ten short straight ribs on the body, extending to about one centimeter above the bottom opening. A cone shape with straight ribs would normally suggest a fast flow, but GSP made the ribs shallower and left space between the ribs and the bottom opening, slowing the flow and bringing it back to a more moderate pace.

Overall, the TSUBAME is a very "balanced" dripper—it strikes just the right position between lightness and material strength, and between fast and slow flow. It is not the kind of dripper with a striking personality that you'll remember at first try, but it is well suited to those who don't want to fuss over their dripper and simply wish to casually brew a good cup of coffee.
